Carbon Water Filter Providing Clean Healthy Water For Generations

If you do not like the taste of chlorine in your water, one of the most effective ways to remove this taste from the water you drink is by using a carbon water filter.

A carbon water filters is filled with activated charcoal. Activated charcoal is one of the best elements to filter impurities from your water. The carbon absorbs the impurities and filters out bacteria so that you drink clear pure water.

Home filtration of water has become much more popular in recent years. There are several reasons.

First, using carbon water filters is much less expensive than using bottled water. Bottled water often costs over a dollar per bottle. With a carbon filter, you can filter a gallon of water for just pennies.

If you are a bottled water drinker, what do you do when you run out of bottled water? You hate the taste of the stuff from the tap, so you hop in the car and run to the store to buy more water. If you drink water that you have filtered at home, you simply filter more water.

There are several types of carbon water filter available. The simplest of the filters allows you to pour water through a filter into a pitcher. That pitcher is designed to sit on a refrigerator shelf to stay cold for drinking. Pitchers are available for twenty-five dollars and the filters are three to four dollars each.

You may also choose to add a carbon filter directly to your kitchen tap. These filers have a flow diverter that allows you to have tap water for washing dishes or turn the handle for filtered water. These units are slightly more expensive than the filtering pitchers, but use the same carbon type filters.

If you have an ice maker on your refrigerator, the fridge may have a built in carbon filter. These filters are typically designed to last for about six months in the fridge, so be sure to keep tabs on when you should change the filter.

An under sink filter is also a convenient way to be sure that you are drinking pure water. These systems are more expensive but can help you to know that your family is drinking pure water.

Whatever type of carbon filter that you choose, it is important that you make sure to change filters as directed. Filters that are not serviced as directed in their owner’s manual can actually add more concentrated levels of impurities and bacteria into the water that you are drinking. Filters in pitchers should be replaced every two months and in refrigerators they should be replaced every six months.

Choosing to filter your own water is good for the environment. It saves the fuel that would have to be used to distribute cases of water to the various grocery, variety and warehouse club stores where we purchase water to take to our homes. In addition it saves the plastic that is used every day to make thousands of water bottles every day. Many of those bottles are thrown along the road side as litter.
